Wildcats Dominate Pepes in the Opener

Writer: Jonah KEIJonah KEI

The visiting Brisbane Wildcats have put their feet down on the opening day of the tri-series friendly, outmatching the PNG Pepes with a commanding 59-30 victory on Friday, November 29th, 2024, at the Sir John Guise Stadium Indoor Complex.

The Australia Pacific Sports Program, in collaboration with Netball PNG, are hosting the three-day friendly series in Port Moresby slated from November 29th to December 1st, 2024.

The objective of hosting this friendly three-match series is to foster friendship, build connections, and extend relationships between the Australian Government and the PNG Government.

The first quarter was a neck-and-neck contest, where the Wildcats took a slight 10-5 lead and exerted their dominance in the second quarter, heading into the break with a comfortable 29-13 margin.

In the second and third quarters, the Aussie girls tightened their grip and went full throttle, increasing their lead to 40-24 (3rd quarter) and further widening the gap with a full-time score of 59-30.

The PNG Pepes have assembled three teams to face the Wildcats - Team Red lost to the BrisVegas ladies yesterday, Team Gold will play today - while Team Black will wrap up the tri-series tomorrow.
