Valley Hunters force draw against Brothers

The clash of the titans saw the SWG Enterprise Valley Hunters score a late try to equalize the points (7-all) against the Kramer Ausenco Brothers, ending round 17 of the Pepsi Moni Plus Capital Rugby Union blockbuster in a cliffhanger on Sunday, August 18th, 2024, at Bava Park in Port Moresby.

This match lived up to the expectations of the fans, with both sides giving everything they had, emptying the tanks and putting their bodies on the line. A very physical and intense encounter in the first half saw the Brothers bag a solo try to lead the contest with a 7-0 scoreline.

The arm-wrestle continued into the second spell, which was similar to a grand final atmosphere. The 7-point lead did not put much pressure on the valley men, as they struck back to level the scores at 7-points apiece, finishing the game to a stalemate.

The Valley Hunters have asked questions against the two premiership heavyweights in Harlequins and Brothers. The valley men are the only team to test the might of the Harlies and the men in black. They’ve in fact stunned everyone and put the competition on notice.

Coach Frank Genia has done wonders for the SWG sponsored-outfit this season, with the assistance of his brother and former Wallabies great, Will Genia. The Genia brothers have turned the Valley Hunters into serious contenders.

Even though the jesters of Bava Park (Harlequins) and the reigning premiers (Brothers) will assert their dominance in the finals, the men in the valley (Hunters) have what it takes to shake the CRU competition.

The remaining match leading up to the finals should be interesting to watch as the teams lock horns and battle for supremacy to secure a spot in the playoffs.
