Tribes Coffee put PEB Comp on Notice

Hurum Tribes Coffee Club has already hit its straps running by registering two big wins against the CIVPAC Amessi and North-West Wizards after round 2 of the 2024 inaugural Port Moresby Elite Basketball (PEB) competition.

The new elite competition was officially launched on the 25th of August, 2024. Six teams (both men & women) who are participating in the PEB competition include Tribes Coffee, CIVPAC Amessi, Togoba Coffee, ACL Kings, North-West Wizards, and Moni Plus Tamaraws.

ExxonMobil PNG LNG is the proud sponsor of the PEB competition, as well as Togoba Kofi. The competition will run for twelve weeks, with a prize money of K30,000 up for grabs in the men’s and women’s divisions.

In the opening matches of the PEB competition on August 25th at the Taurama Aquatic and Indoor Center (TAIC), both Tribes Coffee men’s and women’s teams showed no mercy and thumped the CIVPAC Amessi teams.

The Tribes Coffee men’s team continued their form in round 2 by smashing the North-West Wizards yesterday night (September 4th) at TAIC, while the women’s side went down to the Wizards in a nail-biting affair.

With the strong leadership and experience of skipper Collin Pine, Cornelius Muri, and Eddie Moses in the men’s team, coupled with the guidance of Jonita Warabe, Elina Yala, and Emily Lialu in the women’s team, including the mentorship of coaches Silas Nickey and Jacob Araka, the Tribes Coffee teams will be two of the forces to be reckoned with in the 2024 PEB competition.

While the Tribes Coffee men's team looks forward to continuing their rhythm and posting a third consecutive victory, the women's team is upbeat to redeem themselves and bounce back into the winner's circle in round 3.

The Port Moresby Elite Basketball (PEB) competition promises to showcase the talented and skillful basketball players in the nation’s capital, as the athletes rise to the biggest stage and entertain avid basketball fans while setting their sights on the coveted trophy and lucrative prize money.
