The Papua New Guinea Kickboxing Federation (PNGKBF) will host the 8-Men Eliminator on July 7th, 2024, at the Sir John Guise Indoor Stadium.
This event will feature top PNG kickboxers, competing in the under 65kg and 70kg weight categories.
The eight contenders of each category will go head-to-head in a survival series of three-round elimination bouts, battling it out for the coveted title of the 'Last Man Standing'.
Stanley Nandex, PNGKBF President, stated that the fight would be very competitive as it features the best fighters in the country.
He mentioned that it was a fundraising event for the federation and one of the two major fundraising events scheduled for this year, with the other one taking place on September 25th at the Hilton Hotel.
The money raised will be used to prepare the national team for the upcoming World Championships in Spain in November.
Nandex emphasised the importance of corporate clients, business sectors, and leaders supporting their programs and teams heading to the World Championships.
Nandex expressed confidence that the event will be a success, stating, "We have been training the boys to ensure they are in good spirits to compete."
He commended the fighters for their support and self-discipline, as they eagerly anticipate the event.
He also mentioned that the preparation has been going well, with a focus on developing the fighters' mindset and resilience for the battles ahead. Nandex emphasised his role in guiding and mentoring the fighters towards success.
"Our National Selections are coming up in August, where we will determine the entire team for the World Championships,” he said.
