PNG Kickboxing Federation grants Affiliation Certificates to Four Clubs

The Papua New Guinea Kickboxing Federation (PNGKBF) held a small ceremony at Sir John Guise Indoor Complex Conference Room on Monday, July 15th, 2024, to recognize a couple of clubs who have been running their programs successfully over the years.

Four Provincial Associations have been presented with Affiliation Certificates and the recipients were: Hela Kickboxing Club; Mataungan Kickboxing Club (ENB); Southern Highlands Kickboxing Club Team 2; and Mount Hagen Linstan Kickboxing Club.

Among the 18 Provincial Associations affiliated to PNGKBF, these four clubs have been doing the hard yards and implementing their plans over the years, so they were rewarded for their hard work and consistency.

PNG Kickboxing Federation has established the Provincial Associations with the aim of coordinating the preparations and planning for the clubs within their own locality.

However, some of the associations are not operating effectively due to funding constraints, logistical support and management issues to execute their programs or plans.

PNG Kickboxing Federation President, Stanley Nandex, while acknowledging the four clubs for their tremendous effort, he also appealed to other clubs in the country to get affiliated to the national body and implement their programs accordingly.

“I have not seen any work happening because of the differences, management issues, and funding problems we have in the organization and at the provincial level,” President Nandex observed.

“We have changed the line of concept to also allow every club to continue its program, and the idea is to ensure that each province is involved in the sport of kickboxing and development.

“We are happy to also allow each of those clubs and associations to affiliate directly with the federation, so that if there’s an issue on the other side, we can work with them to see the successful running of their programs.”

Additionally, the PNG Kickboxing Federation will have a small office to use after so many years. The federation has been allocated the Murray Barracks Defence Club by PNG Sports Foundation to operate and run its business.

Kickboxing has been existing in the country for 28 years, so Mr. Nandex plans to overhaul the organization in developing quality fighters from amateurs to professionals and export them overseas to participate in the professional competitions like K-1, among others.
