The SP PNG Hunters and Central Dabaris sensational fullback, Morea Morea Jnr, has scored two late tries for the Dabaris to level the scores at 24-24 against the Kroton Hela Wigmen during the second game of the triple-header on Sunday, May 19th, 2024, at Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby.
The Hela Wigmen dominated the game, until the back-to-back tries by Morea Morea Jr levelled the points at 24 and ended the game in a draw.
In the first half, the Dabaris scored the opening try of the game and with a successful conversion, they led the Wigmen 6-0. The Wigmen swung back and scored three tries, ending the first half with a 16- 6 lead.
The second half was a thrilling affair as both teams relentlessly tried to score but missed multiple opportunities due to ball security and handling errors.
After several attempts, the Dabaris broke the deadlock and scored a try, bringing the score to 16-12. A few minutes later, the Wigmen responded with a try through Woodie Kawage, extending their lead to 22-12.
With only 12 minutes on the clock, Morea Morea slipped and slid his way to score a try. Before the Wigmen could catch their breath, the elusive fullback scored another try, tying the game at 22-22.
With five minutes on the clock, the Dabaris were penalised for a high tackle. The Wigmen took a successful conversion, bringing the score to 24-22. The Wigmen then penalised the Dabaris and they took a successful penalty kick from the 35 meter line, ending the game in a 24-24 draw.
