The 2024 Cricket PNG Awards Night held at the Hilton Hotel on Friday, October 18th, saw a couple of outstanding PNG cricketers walk away with the medals in their respective categories, one of which was the talented Dika Lohia, who snatched the Late Kaia Arua Medal.

Late Kaia Arua, who was the current PNG Lewas player, suddenly passed away earlier this year following a short illness. The Kaia Arua Medal was named in honor of her memory and legacy.

Young Lohia had an incredible year with the U19 Siales and of course with the Lewas, competing valiantly at the domestic front and producing a stellar performance on the international stage as well.

A somewhat emotional and elated Lohia expressed gratitude for being recognized as the first recipient of the Kaia Arua Medal.

“I feel emotional and proud of myself for being the first recipient of the Late Kaia Arua Award. I feel emotional because when I made my debut in Auckland, I played alongside her (late Aura),” Lohia said.

The 2024 Kaia Arua medalist (Dika Lohia) looks forward to playing her part in the U19 Siales and the PNG Lewas, as they prepare to participate in the Cricket World Cup qualifiers next year.
