ISUZU Continues to Sponsor Cricket PNG

Updated: Apr 27

Boroko Motors ISUZU continues its commitment to supporting Cricket PNG by sponsoring the ISUZU T20 SMASH competition which is scheduled to commence this Easter weekend, starting on Friday 29th March, at the iconic Amini Park, Bisini Sports Precinct in Boroko, Port Moresby.

It will begin with the Men’s Fixtures and then to be followed by the women's tourney. It was noted that the women’s matches will commence on Saturday 20 April after the CPNG Lewas return from their Zimbabwe and UAE tours.

The Men’s Final will be played on Saturday 13th April and the Women’s Final on Saturday 4th May, 2024.

Speaking at the official launching of the ISUZU T20 SMASH, Boroko Motors Dealer Principal, Tony Balow, confirmed the sponsorship on Friday, March 22 at the Boroko Motors Showroom.

“We are very happy to be here today, confirming the Isuzu sponsorship for this smash again for the fifth consecutive year,” said Tony Balow.

Balow also said that ISUZU has faced challenges and worked through the toughest to emerge as the best. He said they believe in playing a major role in the development of cricket in Papua New Guinea, providing a platform for players to progress to the next level.

“We are very proud of the association and like to take on any challenges and come out on top,” said Balow.

ISUZU, the naming rights sponsor of the ISUZU T20 SMASH, has a long association with PNG Cricket over the years and is delighted by the highly entertaining competition and proud to be the main sponsor.

Meanwhile, Cricket PNG CEO Richard Done said that CPNG is ready to face the challenges and wants to make sure they do the best they can.

“Barras came back recently from overseas with some great results, leading the Pool in Hong Kong, and the final was fantastic. We have Lewas away now so it's really exciting as they are off to Zimbabwe and UAE to play, so there are lots of great things happening.”

CPNG has also clarified that there will be 13 players in each of the teams. CPNG has also opened the team participants to the public, allowing an opportunity for four additional players to be included in each of the Men’s Teams, and three players for the Women’s Teams, with four marquee players joining each team.

According to CPNG, all the ISUZU T20 SMASH events will be broadcasted on media platforms such as EMTV, FM100, and across a number of international territories to be finalised.
