The invincible Hekari United FC secured the 2024 Premier Soccer League (PSL) Minor Premiership Trophy, following a strong 3-1 victory over the Gulf Komara FC during their round 11 fixture on Saturday, September 28th, at Sir John Guise Stadium in Port Moresby.
This much-anticipated clash of the round shaped up to be a thrilling encounter, where a real tug-of-war was on display in the first 45 minutes, leaving the half time battle at zero points on the scoreboard.
In the second half, the experienced Hekari-outfit regrouped and exerted their dominance, scoring three goals and conceding a consolation goal to the determined Komara side.
With three more rounds to go in the regular season before the finals, the reigning champions (Hekari) maintained their unblemished record with 31 points, flexing their championship credentials once again.
Coach David Muta was pleased with the win, but admitted that the job isn’t done yet. They still have to polish up in a few areas to stake their claim for a potential back-back championship glory.
The KSS-sponsored franchise came firing on all cylinders from the get-go and blew the teams off the park every weekend, stamping their authority to secure the minor premiership title.
As the PSL competition heads towards the backend of the business, the defending champions (Heakri) are increasing their pace and intensity, aiming to retain their prized silverware.
