The reigning Champions of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) competition, the Hekari United FC, have flexed their muscles in rounds 1 and 2 of the 2024 PSL season, snatching two consecutive victories and topping the ladder.
In the season opener against the newcomers, the Admiralty Island FC, Hekari defeated the Islanders with a 2-0 win and replicated a similar performance against the Port Moresby Strikers in round 2.
The red army, as they are affectionately known, wasted no time and are already hitting their straps running to put the semi-professional competition on notice, showcasing their premiership credentials.
With last season’s bulk of the squad maintaining their spots, the Southern Highlands franchise have imported two Brazilian players in the off-season to bolster their pack, as they anticipate to defend their title.
The David Muta-coached side kicked off their 2024 campaign in a fiery start, registering two strong wins on the trot and are upbeat to continue their winning streak when they go head-to-head with the Lae City FC on Saturday, July 20th, in Lae.
