Hekari annihilate Dwellers to maintain top spot

The high-flying Hekari United FC have demolished the Lae City Dwellers with a commanding 9-0 win during round 6 fixture of the Premier Soccer League (PSL) competition on Saturday, August 10th, 2024, at PNG Football Stadium in Port Moresby.

With this impressive triumph, the undefeated reigning champions made a huge statement and consolidated their position, sitting comfortably on top of the ladder with 16 competition points.

The red-hot David Muta-coached side were clinical in the first half, scoring 4 unanswered goals and leaving the Dwellers gasping for air in a one-sided contest.

In the second half, the red army maintained the rhythm and shifted their performance to fifth gear, bagging five more additional goals to blow the hapless Dwellers off the park with a decisive 9-0 victory.

Coach Muta was impressed with his team’s masterclass performance and commended the players for their consistency.

“I’m really happy with the team’s performance, because scoring goals has been our main focus during training and the boys delivered it,” Muta said.

Meanwhile, in the second game of the Port Moresby local derby, the Gulf Komara FC drew 1-all with the Port Moresby Strikers in a thrilling stalemate encounter.
