The undefeated Gazelle women thumped the United Sisters in round 5 (round 1) of the Port Moresby Women’s Softball Association (POMWSA) B Grade match on Saturday, February 22nd, 2025, at Softball Diamonds.
The inexperienced Sisters capitulated in the second inning following Gazelle’s merciless home run and easy fielding, recording a resounding 28-1 victory.
The Gazelle ladies have yet to taste a loss this season. They are topping the standings, registering four wins and recording a draw.
Vice President Evodia Palanga mentioned that she was happy for her girls' win, but admitted that they would need to polish up in a few areas, especially their fielding.
“They did really well and improved from the previous games. The errors that were made in the previous games, they worked on them during the training and it showed today,” Palanga said.
“I’m so happy and proud of them because they put into practice what was given to them by the coach during the training sessions.
“Though they are doing well, I think they need to improve their fielding. Sometimes when they get excited, they switch off and lose focus, so we need to work on that.”
Palang added that despite dominating the pitch, they shouldn't get ahead of themselves as there are more games to be played. Gazelle will meet the Saints this weekend (March 1st).
