The much-anticipated first-ever Pepsi Moni Plus Capital Rugby Union (CRU) Representative Round of ‘Vodafone Friday Night Footy’ will see an intriguing double-header showdown on August 9th at the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium in Port Moresby.
Kicking off the Vodafone Friday Night Footy double-header fixture, the Magias will take on the Hanenamos in the curtain-raiser match of the Niu Power CRU Women’s competition, followed by the traditional arch-rivalry of the Aduni Cup among the Kramer Ausenco Brothers and Fincorp University Piggies to wrap up the CRU round 16 footy bonanza.
The Brothers and Piggies have a rich history, as they are two of the pioneer clubs in the rugby union circle in PNG. The Brothers broke away from the Piggies to form their own club. In commemoration of their long historical ties, the Aduni Cup was birthed in 2017. Since the inception of the Aduni Cup in 2017, it has been an annual event between the two clubs.
These two matches promise to elevate the standard of rugby union in the nation’s capital to another level and light up the Sir Hubert Murray Stadium with an electrifying atmosphere, as the four teams rise to the occasion and showcase their skills, keeping the spectators on the edge of their seats.
CRU President, Kori Chan and his administration, including the sponsors and die-hard rugby union followers, as well as their families in the big city, are looking forward to relishing the inaugural Vodafone Friday Night Footy spectacle. The double-header matches tomorrow should be entertaining to watch.
