In a small but significant ceremony held on Friday, July 12th, 2024, at PNG National Rugby League Competition (PNGNRLC) office in Port Moresby, the Coca-Cola PNG has come on board to sign a one-year partnership deal with the PNG Rugby Football League (PNGRFL) worth five hundred thousand kina (K500, 000).
The last sponsorship agreement Coca-Cola PNG had with the PNGRFL was five years ago. The beverage company is back to renew that deal and become the number one supplier of drinks or beverages during the Digicel-ExxonMobil Cup matches.
Coca-Cola Europacific PNG Sales and Commercial Director, Tim Solly, expressed delight in the partnership and looks forward to supplying the players and fans with different beverages ranging from coke, sprite, and fanta every game-day.
“If you think about coke, it is all about bringing people together. It’s about bringing family, friends, and everyone together, creating moments of happiness and possibilities,” Mr. Solly said.
“Who better to partner with than rugby league in PNG. I mean, PNG loves rugby league and it brings people together as one, so you’ve got the beverage choice for the country.
“We are very happy and excited to partner with PNGRFL. We expect this to be a very long and fruitful partnership going forward.”
PNGRFL General Manager Pathways and Performance, Tony Archer, thanked Coca-Cola PNG on behalf of PNGRFL CEO, Stanley Hondina, who was on duty-travel. PNGRFL Independent Director, Lorna McPherson, echoed similar sentiments by Mr. Archer.
Meanwhile, the one-year sponsorship deal can potentially be extended, depending on the outcome and relationship of this partnership.
