The Papua New Guinea Cricket representative team, the Barramundis, have concluded their T-20 world Cup without a win and lost their final match against New Zealand by 3 wickets at the Brain Lara Stadium in Trinidad.

Despite not recording any win at the international tournament, the Barramundis were commended for their determination and hunger to compete, especially after their first match against the West Indies.

The Barramundis have displayed splendid sportsmanship in their second World Cup appearance, even though they did not win a match.

In the opening match of the tourney, the Barras took on the West Indies and lost by 3 wickets and in the second match, Uganda beat them by 5 wickets. They lost again the third match to Afghanistan by 7 wickets and finally went down to New Zealand by 3 wickets.

The Barras have received praise from many followers for their passion and enthusiasm they showed, especially in the near upset against the West Indies in the opening match.

They now come home for a well-deserved rest before starting their preparation for the 50-over ICC Challenge League to be played in Kenya in September, and the opportunity to win back the ODI status that they lost in early 2023.
