Albert Scoops Eels Player of the Year

PNG Orchids linchpin and Parramatta Eels bulky prop, Elsie Albert has claimed the 2024 Eels Player of the Year Award.

Albert made history in 2020 when she signed a two-year contract with the ST. George Illawarra Dragons NRL Women’s Premiership team, becoming the first homegrown Papua New Guinean to play in the women’s elite competition.

She stayed with the Dragons for two seasons and inked a new deal with the Parramatta Eels in 2023. The Pangian lady had a strong season last year and backed it up this season, putting a compelling case to win the club's envied individual award.

A no nonsense forward, Albert leads upfront with aggression, causing fear on the opposition teams. She played 9 games for the Eels this season, averaging 122 running meters, scoring two tries, with a solid defensive tackling efficiency rate of 92.7 percent.

Albert’s stacked statistics pushed her to clinch the club's highest honor. She has had an incredible 2024 season with the blue and gold girls, and made her mark on Australian soil by walking away with the precious award.

The ‘JukeBox’, as Albert is affectionately known for, entered the 2024 NRLW competition with all guns blazing and took the competition by storm, ultimately bagging the Eels Player of the Year Award and capping off her stellar season on a positive note.

Albert said she was humbled and grateful to be recognized as the Eels' best player, crediting her success to her teammates, coaching staff, team management, close friends and family for their support and words of encouragement.
